Reading Notes: Ramayana, Part C

 Reading Notes: Ramayana, Part C

Continuing on from my last two reading blog posts, this post will discuss stories 101-150 from Tiny Tales from the Ramayana. Like the last two, I have selected my 3 favorite stories which I will be summarizing here! The first story is titled "The Search Party Reaches the Ocean". In short, the search party reaches the ocean and because of this they can go no farther. Angada says that it would be better if they died there instead of returning a failure. Jambavan and Hanuman tried to console him but Angada wouldn't listen. Then suddenly an eagle approached them while limping. The eagle basically said "tell me more, I might be able to help". The second and third stories that I chose actually go together. I chose them because they involve quite a bit of action and I personally thought that they were a lot if fun to read. The titles of them are "Hanuman Runs Wild" and "Hanuman Fights the Rakshasas". To start, Hanuman says that he will have a long journey and that he is very hungry. Sita offers Hanuman hospitality and tells him that he can eat all the fruit he wants off of the trees. Of course he starts jumping from tree to tree to get all of the fruit! The guardians were not very happy about this, they went running after Hanuman. Hanuman used his resources and started throwing fruit at them while he laughed! The ruckus became so loud that they awoke Ravana who yelled at his son, Aksha, to get the monkey. In the process, Aksha died. This infuriated Ravana so he yelled for his oldest son, Indrajit, to go catch him. He listened and went to get his bow. Hanuman found this funny, he laughed and kept on taunting them until Indrajit fired and arrow and Hanuman fell to the ground. Little did they know that he pretended to fall! He wanted them to take him to Ravana. They had fallen into his maniacal plan!
