Week 12 Story: Chad Hopes for Peace

Week 12 Story: Chad Hopes for Peace

Once upon a time, a baby boy was born. The baby's name was Chad. He was born from parents that were both active United States Marines. As is often times the case, both of their parents were also former members of the United States military. Based on the lifestyle of the people that surrounded Chad he always believed that he would join the military once he got older. This mentality carried through with him for years and years. However, as he got older he slowly began go realize that a lot of people, including innocent civilians, die in war. He had a great deal of respect for those who served his country but did not want to follow the path that his parents and grandparents took. Instead of having the intent to kill others, he wanted to help people live. So when Chad was a student in high school he decided that he wanted to become a doctor. With these high ambitions he did all that he could to earn scholarships to go earn his undergraduate pre-med bachelor's degree. From there he would go on to medical school where he would eventually become a doctor. Chad went on to live the life that he had always dreamed!

Author's Note: In the original, it describes that although Abhimanyu was young, he was an accomplished warrior. He had trained from a very young age and was going to use this skill and knowledge in the upcoming war. The story then went on to go into how there was hope for peace. My story has a much different plot. It is based on someone who I know who went through this experience (no their actual name isn't Chad haha). Instead of being trained to be a warrior from a young age he was raised under the mentality that he would eventually become a Marine. By no means is this story meant to bash any branch of the military. I respect the hell out of what they do. After all, they protect our very freedoms. This is just meant to be representative of someone's real life story.

  3. Hi Nathan, I really enjoyed your story! It is very simple yet it has a meaning. A lot of people grow up in a certain background and as they grow up they make different choices for themselves. It is great that you could showcase that. I also liked the way you connected it with Abhimanyu's story. Good job!
