Reading Notes: Finishing Epified Mahabharata (Part B)

Reading Notes: Finishing Epified Mahabharata (Part B)

As a continuation of this weeks reading, I have finished the last eighteen videos of the Epified YouTube channel's telling of the Mahabharata. In a similar fashion to Part A as well as previous week's reading posts, I have selected the story that stood out to me most. I see it as a fantastic base for me to make a story out of. I have selected "The Gambling Match". It begins by explaining that Yudhishthira had lost all of his gold by gambling it away, he had lost all of the Pandavas riches. He was unwilling to give up so he had one last thing to bet, his brother. Yet he lost again. He began to think that the game was rigged. He continued, he wagered his brother Arjun next. Yudhisthira once again lost and Arjun was taken. All of the elders cried in protest and requested that Yudhishthira stop playing, but he didn't listen. He next wagered Bhima, and lost yet again. He no longer had anything to bet so he bet himself. Unsurprisingly, he lost again. End of story. So as you can see, the story is about giving up everything you have to gambling. I personally don't know anyone with a gambling addiction, but I know there are tons of people who do. I want to write a story, using this as a foundation, about the dangers of gambling if you don't keep it under control. In my version, the guy will lose all he has, his car, his boat, his home, and in the end, his wife.
